On the ground
Thailand has more Jewish activity than most destinations in Asia, so keeping kosher here is genuinely workable - the right approach just depends on your cities, your dates and your group size. Bangkok, Phuket and Koh Samui each work a little differently, and the plan is always built around your specific itinerary rather than assuming a kosher restaurant will be waiting on every corner.
Is there kosher food in Thailand?
Chabad houses operate in Bangkok and in several of the main tourist areas, which makes community-based Shabbat and holiday meals a real option in the busier hubs. Beyond that, you generally cannot count on finding certified kosher products in a regular supermarket, so for most travelers the practical answer is a mix: community meals where they exist, prepared kosher meals arranged in advance, and a private chef for groups, villas and Shabbat.
Shabbat and holidays in Thailand
Shabbat and the chagim need the most lead time. Because there is no kosher shop to run to on Friday afternoon, everything - challah, wine or grape juice, hot food and the meals themselves - is arranged ahead of time. Where a local Chabad house or community is active we coordinate with it; where it is not, we build the whole setup from scratch, including keeping food warm without cooking on Shabbat.
Private chef, catering and self-catering
For families and groups staying in a villa in Phuket or Koh Samui, a private kosher chef on-site is often the most comfortable option. For organized programs we coordinate group catering matched to your numbers, and for independent travelers we can support a self-catering setup - guidance on what to bring, what can be sourced locally, and how to run a kitchen to a kosher standard.
Getting kosher food where you are going
Availability is strongest in the main hubs and thinner on remote islands and smaller towns, so part of the plan is simply getting food to where you will be - deliveries within a city, or transporting prepared meals to a villa or resort. The more remote the itinerary, the more lead time it takes, which is why we ask for your route early.
